This is deeply minimal, yet unspeakably immense.
The emotional reaction sparked by this song was overwhelming. With a lush, atmospheric build-up, I could barely breathe during the negative space that it led to. Then the vocal whispers gave way to a pounding bass that left me devastated. The barely-there two-step percussion is gently laid on top of a steady throbbing beat, and the story unfolds.
Owsey’s sound is so refreshing; it holds familiarity as well as an indecipherable newness. He’s part of the Night Shift Collective, which is a group of 20 fantastic garage and two-step artists that each deserve to be explored.
